Are you looking to join an orchestra?
Membership to SBMS is open to any adult who plays an orchestral instrument and wishes to join a relaxed and friendly orchestra (subject to section availability). We suggest your playing ability be at a minimum of ABRSM Grade 5 or above due to the complexity of works.
Members work towards and participate in regular concerts. Concerts are held four times per year in the beautiful acoustic at St Botolph’s Church, Colchester.
We offer a free taster session for you to see how you get on and if this is the orchestra for you. If you decide to continue, there is an annual membership fee of £60. This goes towards the running costs of the society as a not-for-profit organisation. Our season runs from September to July, observing the school holidays, with membership fees being due each September.
