For just £50 for the 2026-27 season, Friends receive free admission to all of our concerts, along with a reserved seat at every concert you attend. It’s a great way to enjoy the full season while helping our not-for-profit orchestra continue bringing live classical music to Colchester.
As a Friend of SBMS, you’ll receive:
- Free admission to all SBMS concerts during the 2026-27 season, with a reserved seat at each.
- Exclusive news and updates through our regular email newsletters.
- A VIP invitation to an SBMS rehearsal, giving you the chance to see the orchestra at work and meet our musicians afterwards.
The Friend of SBMS 2026-27 scheme runs from September 2026 to July 2027.
Your support makes a real difference. As a not-for-profit organisation, SBMS relies on ticket sales, donations, and the generosity of our supporters to keep live orchestral music thriving in our community.
To ensure we have your seat reservation at our concerts, please purchase at least 48 hours in advance of concert day.

SBMS is a not-for-profit community orchestra. We are run by musicians who share a passion for performing live classical music. We also love bringing great music to local audiences.
Every donation helps us continue our work. In particular, your support helps us rehearse each week and present concerts for our community. It also helps us provide performance opportunities for talented young and emerging musicians.

Running an orchestra comes with many essential costs. For example, we pay for venue hire, music hire, marketing, publicity and PRS fees.
These costs allow SBMS to rehearse and perform throughout the season. However, ticket sales alone do not cover everything. That is why your support is so important.
