Celebrate the 60th anniversary of St Botolph’s Music Society with an unforgettable evening of live classical music. This special anniversary concert is devoted entirely to the music of Camille Saint-Saëns, one of France’s greatest composers. From the dazzling Bacchanale from Samson & Delilah to the majestic Symphony No. 3, the programme highlights the remarkable range of Saint-Saëns’ music. As a result, audiences will experience an evening filled with colour, drama and orchestral brilliance.
The concert features outstanding local soloists Melinda Greenfield (violin) and James Greenfield (cello). First, Melinda performs the graceful Havanaise. Then, Melinda and James unite for the expressive La Muse et le Poète. Meanwhile, James also takes centre stage in the much-loved The Swan from Carnival of the Animals. Finally, the evening concludes with Saint-Saëns’ magnificent Symphony No. 3, the celebrated “Organ Symphony”, featuring Philip Elwell on the organ.
