Feel the dark intensity of Prokofiev’s Montagues and Capulets, with its brooding power and unforgettable themes drawn from Romeo and Juliet. In delightful contrast, Peter and the Wolf showcases Prokofiev’s playful genius. It is a vivid, characterful tale where each instrument steps into the spotlight to tell a story loved by generations.

The spirit of America shines brightly in the music of Copland. From the noble grandeur of Fanfare for the Common Man to the heartfelt simplicity of Variations on a Shaker Melody, Copland captures both the strength and serenity of a nation finding its voice. Meanwhile, the exuberant rhythms of Rodeo bring toe-tapping vitality. Outdoor Overture opens the door to a landscape of optimism and bold horizons.

From Russian drama to American adventure, this concert celebrates the colour, contrast and unmistakable spirit of modern orchestral music – a thrilling journey through the 20th century and beyond.
